The Materials

The basic material used in body-in-white remains steel. Steel can be formed to precisely suit the various demands imposed through innovative manufacturing and processing tasks. In this respect the steel of the future will make bodywork lighter, fulfill all safety requirements and make enable body designs using fewer components.

Semi-finished products such as tailored blanks, patchwork blanks and sandwich materials will play an equally important role, just like magnesium, AFS and CFC.
